There are several reasons that this would be a good idea, I understand that St Joe's website has a messaging system, but you cannot transfer files/documents in there that I can see, and that would be a helpful feature. The main reason an internal messaging system would be good for all offices to use is mainly TIME. Instead of trying to call during business hours we can all send message and recieve them when it is convienent for us and we ALL need that! It is also a good way to communicate such things as an office moving or updating a fax number, very good things to keep everyone informed.

I like your idea of trying to come up with an idea in IRIS for referral follow-up. You are correct in that right now there isn't functionality currently that allows for this, but I will bring it to the table and request some sort of batching of site outstanding referral reminders. I will keep you posted on the life of this idea. For now, unfortunately the work falls on the lap of the referring provider:(

I have to say that I still believe that this is a good idea, we are still getting calls from Patient's that are very confused by these calls, so it is causing more phone calls to our office.
Thanks!

Katie,
I am not sure how to go about following up on these un-processsed referrals. I know how to do it the old fashion way of batching them together and faxing the office, but is there a way to do this through IRIS and not waste the time and resources of faxing?
Thank you very much for your time,
Johanna @ Dr. Marshall's Office

Glad to be a part of IRIS, so far everything is running smoothly. We sent out a mammogram order during training at Noon today and have already heard back from St Joseph Imaging a couple hours later with a scheduled time! That is fantastic turn around time St Joseph, Thank you!

I love IRIS!! When patients call and ask about the status of their referral, I can give them the exact time/date the referral was done. This has been very helpfull from the PCP side. It shows we did the referral and that the hold up is from the speciality side.
